Adventure Learning Center - Challenge Course

The Adventure Learning Center at Living History Farms is an exciting experiential learning program that develops team work, trust, leadership, character and confidence.

Set among 10 acres of wooded land at Living History Farms, the program is designed to enhance and team building needs of youth and adults.  Participants progress through sequenced activities that foster team unity, skill development and fun.

Operating with the philosophy of "Challenge by Choice," individuals choose their level of participation, allowing everyone to have an enjoyable experience.  Programs can be tailored to fit the needs of any group, youth (6th Grade) through adult.

The challenge course at the Adventure Learning Center is a state-of-the-art universally designed facility, constructed by  Adventure Based Experiential Educators Inc., (ABEE) an internationally known leader in the challenge course industry.  The course meets and exceeds all safety and design specifications as set by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT).

The Adventure Learning Center is the result of a unique collaboration between ISU Extension - Polk County, Polk County Conservation and Living History Farms.

The challenge course design, construction and safety equipment made possible by grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Education and Prairie Meadows Racing Commission.
